![]() San Jose, CA — San Jose State University’s Pre-College Programs Upward Bound Project will bring holiday cheer to those in need this year by organizing a clothing and toy drive that will benefit two local charities. Local high school students who participate in the program have already dropped off bags of toys and cloths. Many UB parents have also stopped by the Office of Pre-College Programs after work to donate items. “In the spirit of community service giving to those in need, help students learn the value of sharing and giving back to the community,” said Frank Castillo, PCP Director. Upward Bound students took the initiative to organize the toy and clothing drive to do something nice this holiday season. “It was all their idea,” said Blanca Sanchez, Academic Coordinator. Students, staff and everyone else who wished to donate had until Thursday, December 6, to bring in their gently new and used toys and clothing for children, teen and adults. Items will then be distributed to two charities one that works with homeless runaway teens and another one that focuses on helping families in need. Those interested in making a difference this holiday season are welcomed to drop off their donations to the Office of Pre-College Programs located inside the SJSU Student Services Center on the corner of 10th St. and San Fernando between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. For more information regarding the Upward Bound Pro-ject Clothing and Toy Drive please call Blanca Sanchez at (408) 924-2472. |
